This device is a voltage converter that converts a unipolar DC supply into a bipolar power supply. When a unipolar input voltage is applied, a symmetrical bipolar output voltage referenced to ground is obtained (for example, 10 V input results in ±5 V output).
In this implementation, the circuit is designed to generate ±12 V output when supplied with 24 V DC input voltage. The output voltage can be modified by replacing the two Zener diodes.
The converter is suitable for powering circuits that require bipolar supply voltages, such as:

- kit model HK1037 - stereo preamplifier with tone control;
- other analog circuits using operational amplifiers.
